In a little wooden rowboat sits a smiling baby dragon, holding a long paddle and dipping it into the rippling water. It has two striped horns, big sparkly eyes, a round snout, small spiky fins by its ears, and bat-style wings stretched out behind. The belly has curved stripes, and the spiky tail curls over the boat's edge. A small island with a palm tree and a few bushes sits in the background, and two water lilies float on lily pads up front. Those wavy water lines leave lots of room for blue and teal shading. A bright green dragon with orange wing panels looks nice, and a warm brown boat will stand out. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the sky and water: color the sky area above the horizon sky blue, leaving the open water white.
- 2Fill the dragon's body and head with bright green, and the sand of the little island with sand yellow.
- 3Color the boat and paddle with medium brown, using dark brown for the darker wood along the edges and the palm trunk.
- 4Paint both wings and the back spikes with bright orange, then color the belly stripes and fin tips with lemon yellow.
- 5Add the horns in cream, the lily pads and palm leaves in forest green, and the lily flowers in light pink, leaving the right ear fin white.
- 6Optional: Add a little shading on the boat wood and the dragon's belly with a slightly darker tone of the same color for depth.
