A cheerful lion cub looks straight out at you with big round eyes, a wide smile and a little triangle nose. Simple whiskers sit on both sides of its face. Two round ears poke up from a thick, wavy mane, a tuft of hair curls at the forehead, and the fur falls below the chin in long pointed layers. With no background, the page stays clean and uncluttered. The big open shapes in the mane and face are simple to fill in, and both crayons and chunky markers do the job nicely. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the big fluffy mane and the lower chest area with chestnut brown, working in short strokes that follow the wavy edges.
- 2Color the whole round face with golden yellow, leaving the eyes and muzzle lines for later.
- 3Fill both outer ears with golden yellow, then color the inner ear shapes with soft pink.
- 4Color the nose with chestnut brown, starting at the top and blending down to the rounded tip.
- 5Leave the eye whites and the small shine spots inside the eyes white so the eyes look bright and friendly.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker brown along the edges of the mane and under the chin to give the lion some depth.
