A big-eyed baby pony bends down to touch noses with a small fluffy bunny, and the bunny looks up at its friend with a happy face. The pony has long eyelashes, a wavy mane that sweeps over its forehead, a flowing tail and a little band around one front ankle. The bunny sits upright with one long ear drooping, whiskers drawn and a tuft of fur on its chest. Grass tufts and daisy-style flowers with round centers surround them, and two spotted mushrooms sit in the bottom corners. Clear outlines and large shapes suit preschoolers and early elementary kids, and the fur, mane strands and grass blades give older kids something to focus on. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the horse's body, face and neck in honey tan, plus the far ear, leaving the inner ears for later.
- 2Fill the bunny's body and its far ear in light gray, keeping the bunny's eye highlight and cheek white.
- 3Color the horse's mane, tail and the flower centers in golden yellow, leaving the small highlight strands in the tail white.
- 4Add soft pink inside the horse's ear and the bunny's inner ear, then color the horse's hooves and lower leg in chestnut brown and caramel brown.
- 5Fill the grass and leaves in leaf green, the mushroom caps in tomato red and stems in cream, and the sandy beige base of the left mushroom; keep the mushroom spots and flower petals white.
- 6Optional: Add light shading in a slightly darker tone along the horse's body and the bunny's belly for a bit more depth.
