Back-to-School Word with Backpack and Pencils

Coloring guide
This cheerful back-to-school scene is ready for color. A smiling backpack with a top handle, a front zipper pocket and big sparkly eyes sits in the center, and a happy pencil with a wide grin and a freshly sharpened tip stands on each side. Across the middle, SCHOOL is written in large, puffy bubble letters that are easy for little hands to fill in. Underneath are a stack of three closed books and a ruler with measuring marks, and small stars and hearts are scattered around the edges. It's a free printable that suits the first week of class or a classroom welcome display. Try a different bright color on each letter, classic yellow on the pencils, and a mix of colors on the books so the stack stands out. Love this Words coloring page? A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big letters: color the S bright red, the C amber orange, the H golden yellow, the first O light blue, the second O violet purple, and the L bubblegum pink, leaving the shiny highlight on the S white.
- 2Fill the backpack body with sky blue, then color the front pocket golden yellow, the handle and top coral red, and the side straps bright red.
- 3Color the left pencil amber orange and the right pencil lime green, then add the light wood tan tips, charcoal gray points, and silver gray erasers with coral red bands. Keep the faces' eye whites white.
- 4Color the stacked books: the top book bright blue, the middle book bright red, and the bottom book grass green, with the page edges in pale cream and the book bands in golden yellow.
- 5Color the ruler golden yellow and keep the small hole in it white. Fill the stars with golden yellow and the hearts with coral red, leaving the background white.
- 6Optional: add a little shading along one side of each letter and book with a slightly darker shade of the same color to make it pop.
