Banana Split Sundae with Smiling Scoops

Three happy ice cream scoops with little faces sit side by side in a footed sundae dish, between two banana halves. Each scoop has a swirl of whipped cream on top, and the middle one also has a round cherry on a curvy stem. Sauce drizzles and tiny sprinkles dot the scoops, two striped wafer sticks stick up on the left and right, and a small puff of extra cream peeks out in front. A simple line under the dish marks the tabletop. Big shapes and clear outlines make it easy for preschoolers and early elementary kids with crayons or chunky markers. Bright red for the cherry and soft yellow for the bananas work well, and your child can choose pastel pink, mint and chocolate brown for the scoops. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big bowl: color the bowl body and the base in sky blue, and the stem as well, leaving the background white.
- 2Color the rim of the bowl and the two little ends at its edges in pale blue.
- 3Fill both bananas with banana yellow, leaving a small white shine on each one.
- 4Color the center scoop in soft pink, the left scoop in caramel brown and the right scoop in cream white.
- 5Add the toppings: chocolate brown on the left and right scoop tops, and raspberry pink on the center scoop topping, then make the cherry cherry red.
- 6Finish with the two striped wafer sticks in light caramel, keep the whipped cream and cream blobs white, and leave the background white. Optional: add a little darker shading under the scoops and bowl for depth.
