Standing in shallow water, a smiling little shark holds up a spiral seashell in one flipper and carries a woven basket of shells in the other. It wears a knotted striped bandana around its neck and has big round eyes and a toothy grin. A tiny crab with raised claws scuttles through the sand in front. More shells, a starfish, small rocks and wavy seaweed are scattered along the bottom. Farther back, a sailboat with a little flag floats on rippled water, a sandcastle with a flag sits on the shore, and two puffy clouds hang in the sky. Young children can color the big, clear shapes easily, and the small shells and wave lines are there for older kids who like detail. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big shark body, head, fins and arms in ocean blue, leaving the big eye shines and the teeth white.
- 2Color the sea and the small splashes around the shark's feet with bright sky blue, and fill the sand castle with golden yellow.
- 3Fill the basket with caramel brown, then color the shells inside it in soft pink, hot pink, rose pink, lavender purple and light peach.
- 4Color the scarf in coral red stripes, leaving the white stripes uncolored so they show through.
- 5Add the crab in coral red, the starfish in pale aqua, the seaweed in sea green, and the shells on the sand in cream, light peach, lavender purple and soft pink.
- 6Optional: add a darker blue along the shark's belly and under the fins for a bit of depth.
