Coloring guide
Barefoot on the grass with his back against a big tree trunk, a friendly little zombie boy is happily reading an open picture book. One page of the book shows a tree and the other a sunny sky. He has stitched patches on his head, messy hair, a gap-toothed grin and ragged, torn clothes. A small bird sits on a leafy branch above him, and a stack of three more books waits by his knee. Fallen leaves and grass tufts are scattered on the ground. It's a gentle, not-scary choice for kids who enjoy a silly Halloween twist, and the large shapes are easy for small hands. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the zombie's skin: fill the head, ears, neck, hands and bare feet with lime green, and leave the two eye whites bright white.
- 2Color the shirt and its sleeves in lavender purple, then fill the pants in bright blue and add tan brown touches at the neck and elbow.
- 3Color the open book: light sky blue for the left page, tomato red for the right cover, and a golden yellow sun, then add the tree and grassy hill in grass green and forest green.
- 4Fill the stacked books on the right: bright blue for the top book, golden yellow for the middle one and orange for the bottom one, keeping the cream page edges.
- 5Color the hair patch in khaki brown and the leaves on the branch and on the ground in forest green, leaving the bird and tree trunk white.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of forest green or bright blue on the shadowed sides of the pants and feet for depth.
