Boots the Monkey Halloween Pirate from Dora the Explorer
Coloring guide
Boots is all dressed up as a pirate for Halloween. He has a polka-dot bandana tied at the side of his head, a black eye patch over one eye and big oversized boots. Smiling wide, he lifts a candy apple on a stick high in one hand, and in the other he carries a jack-o'-lantern pail with a grinning, triangle-eyed face, ready for trick-or-treating. His long curly tail loops out behind him. The background is blank, so kids can concentrate on the character. Glossy red suits the candy apple, orange the pumpkin pail, and a bright blue or purple the bandana. It's a free PDF, nice for classroom time or a rainy day. A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- cherry red
- pale peach
- chocolate brown
- bright orange
- caramel tan
- peach orange
- dark crimson
- burnt orange
- espresso brown
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big red areas: color the candy apple, both boots and the bandana in cherry red, leaving the small white dots on the bandana unpainted.
- 2Fill the pumpkin bucket with bright orange and add a darker burnt orange band along its top rim, then shade the pumpkin face in espresso brown.
- 3Color the monkey's face, belly and ears in pale peach, and use peach orange for the side of the head and the hands.
- 4Paint the arms, legs, tail, head tuft and bandana tails in chocolate brown, keeping the tip of the tail the same brown for a smooth look.
- 5Add the caramel tan bite on the apple and the apple stick, then fill the open mouth with dark crimson.
- 6Finish with the eye whites and the teeth left white, and leave the background gaps between the limbs white. Optional: add a little darker shading under the boots and the apple for depth.
