Meet Botley, the boxy robot pup from Rusty Rivets, rolling along on big chunky off-road tires. He's drawn at a three-quarter angle with one tall ear pointing straight up and the other flopped over. His round eyes have tiny vent slats, and his nose is small and round. Behind him a ball-tipped tail curls upward, and bendy striped tubes join his body to the wheels. Take a close look at the rivets, the gear-shaped badge on his side and the grille lines on his chest plate. There's no background at all, so you have lots of room to play with. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big yellow body parts: the main body, side panels, chest plate and legs, using golden yellow.
- 2Fill the tall antenna, the ear and helmet tops, and the blue cap pieces with sky blue, leaving the eye circles white.
- 3Color the tires and wheel treads with slate gray, and the rear wheel pieces with medium gray for a lighter touch.
- 4Add the pale gray leg tubes, the bottom grille slots and the mouth interior, and use olive gold for the gear rings.
- 5Finish with the orange nose and the small yellow hubs in the wheel centers. Optional: add a little darker gray at the edges of the tires for depth.
