Bow Tie Kitten in Sugar Skull Style

A big-eyed kitten sits upright with its tail curled up behind it, wearing a bow with a round knot at the neck. The face is decorated in Día de Muertos sugar skull style. Scalloped flower shapes surround the eyes, a small heart sits on the forehead, and teardrops, dots and leaf shapes fill the cheeks and brow. The nose is a tiny heart above a smiling mouth, with whiskers on both sides. A large petaled flower marks the chest, and more leaf patterns and a line of dots decorate the body and sides. A few loose petals lie on the ground near the paws. Thick, clear outlines work for kids who love detailed patterns but still want spaces big enough for crayons. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the whole cat body, tail, and paws with charcoal gray, using gentle back-and-forth strokes for a soft texture.
- 2Fill both ears and the small nose heart with light pink, leaving the rest of the face white.
- 3Color the big flower frames around the eyes in tangerine orange and warm orange, then add turquoise to the petal shapes on the forehead and cheeks.
- 4Paint the bow tie bright red, the bow knot and small flower center golden yellow, and the forehead heart bright red with a lime green drop beneath it.
- 5Add hot pink petals to the flower on the chest and golden yellow drops along the sides of the body.
- 6Optional: Keep the eye whites and the small shine spots white, then add a little darker shading on the gray body for depth.
