Boy and Dog Playing Catch at the Park
Coloring guide
A fluffy, floppy-eared dog with an open smile leaps up on its back legs, front paws tucked, eyes on a ball sailing overhead. Next to it, a cheerful boy in a short-sleeved shirt, shorts and sneakers has one arm raised, right after throwing the ball. The park is easy to color: a leafy tree on the left, a wooden bench tucked behind the dog, a few rounded bushes, and small tufts of grass on the ground. The dog also has a collar with a round tag, a nice small detail for little hands. Golden yellow and warm orange work for the fur, with a bright red or blue collar and a yellow-green tennis ball. Preschoolers will like the large shapes, and older kids can shade the fur and leaves. Grab the free printable PDF for a quiet creative moment. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big dog body and head in golden yellow, leaving the eye whites and the nose area for later.
- 2Color the tree canopy and leaves in lime green, then the trunk in warm brown.
- 3Fill the boy's shirt in sky blue and his shorts in navy blue, and add peach to his face, arms, hands and legs.
- 4Color the bench slats in bright orange and the bushes and grass patches in forest green, with pale green for the lighter grass.
- 5Add the ball with its cherry red and sky blue halves, the coral pink tongue and the cherry red collar with a light yellow tag.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading on the dog's fur and the tree trunk to make the picture look more dimensional.
