Glove raised high, a young player jumps off the ground to catch a ball sailing overhead. He's in a cap, button-up jersey, belt, long pants with striped socks pulled over the cuffs, and lace-up cleats. He has a big open-mouthed smile and his free arm swings out for balance. A wooden fence stretches behind him, with rounded trees on both sides, puffy clouds above and tufts of grass on the ground. The stitched baseball and the detailed glove make good spots for careful coloring. Rich brown for the glove, red stitching on the ball, and a bold team color for the jersey and cap would look sharp. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the sky: color the top left cloud and the right cloud in sky blue, leaving the background around them white.
- 2Fill the trees and bushes with grass green, then color the tree trunks chestnut brown.
- 3Color the fence boards and posts golden tan, leaving the thin lines between boards as they are.
- 4Color the boy's face and raised hand peach skin, then add bright red to the front of the cap and the cap top, and royal blue to the cap crown and brim.
- 5Fill the glove with chestnut brown and the shoes, socks and belt buckle with royal blue. Keep the shirt and pants white.
- 6Optional: Add pale blue to the shirt buttons and the stripe on the sleeve, and leave the baseball and eye whites white for a crisp finish.
