A cheerful young pitcher is up on the mound with one knee lifted high, about to throw. He holds a baseball by his shoulder in his right hand, and his other hand is tucked into a big fielder's glove at his waist. His outfit is a baseball cap, short-sleeved jersey, belted pants, striped socks and cleats. Behind him are a chain-link outfield fence, some bushes, a leafy tree with a thick trunk and little tufts of grass, while curved lines on the ground mark the edge of the infield dirt. Large open areas and bold outlines make this free printable easy for kids just starting out. Blue or red could be a good team color for the cap and jersey, with green for the grass and leaves. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big background: color the grass field in grass green, leaving the white pants, sky and baseball untouched.
- 2Color the bushes and tree canopy in forest green, then fill the tree trunk in chestnut brown.
- 3Fill the pitcher's jersey and sleeves in royal blue, with the lower jersey and sleeves in pale sky blue for lighter highlights.
- 4Color the cap in bright red, the skin of the face, neck, arms and hands in warm peach, and the hair in dark brown.
- 5Add the glove in saddle brown with the center in light orange, then color the socks in royal blue and the cleats in charcoal gray.
- 6Finish with sandy tan on the dirt line, light gray on the shoe laces, and leave the baseball, belt and pants white. Optional: add a little darker shading in saddle brown along the glove edges.
