Boy at the Microphone, a Martin Luther King Jr. Day Speech Page

Coloring guide
A smiling boy stands on a small wooden platform in a park. One hand holds a microphone on a tall stand and the other arm is stretched out in a friendly welcome. He's dressed in a short-sleeved shirt, shorts, socks and sneakers. Five children watch from the front, seen from behind or in profile, a few with mouths slightly open as they listen, one with a ponytail and one with a hair clip. Behind the stage are rounded leafy trees, bushes, small grass tufts, puffy clouds and a bright sun with rays. It's a handy page for talking about speaking up, sharing ideas and listening to each other. A yellow sun and a few different greens for the trees look good, and the audience can have a mix of hair colors. Print it at home for an easy afternoon activity. This page is part of our Martin Luther King Jr. Day coloring pages collection — check out Christmas and Halloween too.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big background areas: color the grass and the bushes with lime green and leaf green, and fill the tree leaves with leaf green for a fresh outdoor feel.
- 2Color the tree trunks and the boy's hair with caramel brown, and the stage platform and its front edge with amber, leaving the light highlights on the stage white.
- 3Fill the boy's shirt and sleeves with ocean blue, his shorts with sand tan, and his skin areas, face, arm and hand with peach skin.
- 4Color the sky clouds with pale blue and the sun's rays and center with a light touch, keeping the background highlights white. Add the sunny clouds with light sky blue if you like.
- 5Add the audience: color the shirts (red-looking shirt in tomato red, orange shirt in bright orange, green shirt in leaf green, purple shirt in lavender purple) and the long blonde hair in golden yellow, with the other kids' hair in chestnut brown and dark brown.
- 6Finish with the shoes in royal blue, keep the laces, soles and socks white, and color the microphone stand base in charcoal gray. Optional: add a little darker shading under the stage and the trees with a deeper shade of the same color for depth.
