Two Hello Kitty characters sit across from each other at a round table for a toasty breakfast. A pop-up toaster stands in the middle of the table with a slice of bread sticking out and its cord trailing down. Look closely and you'll also spot a fried egg on a plate, a bowl with a spoon, a banana, a bunch of grapes, and a small flower shape at the table's edge. Wide, clear outlines work well for younger kids, and the food gives older ones more to do. Golden yellow for the egg yolk and toast, and purple for the grapes, would be a good start. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big background areas: fill the pink tablecloth and the pink bib areas with pink, leaving the white background and white paws alone.
- 2Color the toaster body and the toaster top with pale blue, then fill the two toast slices with light peach and the toast on the left with tangerine.
- 3Color both bows: the left bow in red and the right bow in golden yellow, keeping the small white highlight spots on the bows white.
- 4Fill the two plates: the left plate in sky blue with a golden yellow egg yolk and white egg white, and the right plate with chocolate brown meat and leaf green lettuce.
- 5Add the fruit and bananas: color the bananas golden yellow, the grapes purple with amber stems, and the tomato slices red.
- 6Optional: Add a little shading to the tablecloth and toaster with a slightly darker shade of the same color to make the scene feel more dimensional.
