This young witch has long wavy hair and a big grin, and she's busy stirring a large bubbling cauldron with a long wooden stick. Her wide-brimmed pointed hat has a buckle band, and her hooded cloak has a little bow, a round brooch and long flared sleeves. Soap-like bubbles drift up from the pot. The cauldron has two ring handles and little feet. On the right, a tree stump holds a straw broom leaning against it, and soft bushes and grass tufts fill in behind. It works well for Halloween crafts or a quiet afternoon at the table. Green or purple would make a fun potion, and you could shade the bubbles lightly so they look shiny. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big purple areas: fill the witch's pointed hat, its wide brim and the flowing cloak with lavender purple, using deep violet for the shaded parts under the hat brim.
- 2Color the face and hands in peach skin, then fill the hair with chestnut brown and add amber brown for the darker strands near the face.
- 3Paint the cauldron in charcoal gray, with warm gray for the handles, and add pale stone gray to the small pebbles on the ground.
- 4Fill the bubbling brew with lime green and the floating bubbles with lime green too, leaving small white dots on the bubbles for shine.
- 5Color the broom handle in amber brown, the bristles in golden yellow, the tree stump in chestnut brown and apricot orange, and the bushes and grass in grass green.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading in deep violet along the cloak folds and in dark olive under the cauldron edge to make the drawing feel more dimensional.
