A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big background areas: fill the sky and distant mountains with pale sky blue and steel blue, and color the lake with bright blue, leaving the mug white.
- 2Color the wooden table and the open book's wood grain with light brown, and fill the backpack with olive green and khaki.
- 3Paint the deer's body and legs with amber, then color the pine trees and grass with forest green, grass green and light green.
- 4Fill the creature's body with pale yellow and its back spikes and head with bright blue, leaving the book pages cream.
- 5Color the flashlight with deep teal and the magnifier handle with dark brown, and add orange to the plant pot and red to the mushroom cap.
- 6Optional: Add small details such as the acorns, leaves and the pencil tip last, and leave the mug inner rim and mug body white for a clean highlight.
