Hopping Cuphead Across Lily Pads with Two Frogs

A cheerful teacup-headed kid leaps across a pond with arms stretched wide and a happy laugh. The character wears a short-sleeved t-shirt, shorts and chunky sneakers, caught mid-step between big lily pads. Two smiling frogs watch from their own pads, one at the lower left and one on the right. Overhead, two dragonflies hover with dotted flight trails, and tall cattails and grass tufts frame both sides of the water. Ripples circle each lily pad, which gives little hands lots of room to practice shading. A bright red or sunny yellow shirt would stand out against soft green frogs and lily pads. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the big lily pads, the grass tufts and the grass clumps with leaf green, leaving the thin ripple lines in the water white.
- 2Color the frogs' heads and bodies pale lime, then fill the cattail heads with warm brown.
- 3Color the t-shirt and sleeves bright red, the shorts royal blue, and the cup, arms, legs and hands cream, with the tea inside the cup in chocolate brown.
- 4Color both shoes bright red, leaving the shoe soles, the shoe highlight and the sock white, and fill the dragonfly wings with pale blue.
- 5Fill the water edges with sky blue and the frogs' open mouths with deep red, keeping the eye whites, the cup handle inside and the reed stalks white.
- 6Optional: add a little light shading in a darker shade of each color along one side of the lily pads and the cup to add depth.
