Both hands go up in the air as Cuphead grins wide, riding in a roller coaster car with a big star on the front. His cup head has a striped straw, round eyes and an open laughing mouth. The amusement park behind him is full of things to color: a tall Ferris wheel with a star in the center, a curving coaster track, striped carnival tents, a booth with rows of teddy bears, flags, pennant bunting and a bunch of floating balloons. Thick, clear outlines are good for kids who like both big shapes and small spaces. A red coaster car and a rainbow of balloons against a pale blue sky would look great. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Begin with the sky: fill the upper background with sky blue and the corners with pale sky blue, leaving the fluffy cloud white.
- 2Color the balloons next: use red for the clustered balloons, golden yellow for the low balloons, royal blue for the blue ones, and bright orange for the floating balloon at the top.
- 3Fill Cuphead's head and raised sleeves with golden yellow, his body and sleeves with royal blue, and the cap stripes and collar with red, keeping the gloves white.
- 4Color the roller coaster car in royal blue, add red to the star panel and its stripe, then fill the star and safety bar with golden yellow and the wheels with a lighter blue.
- 5Fill the background with leaf green and grass green for trees and bushes, pale sky blue for the Ferris wheel gondolas, and brown for the wooden track; keep the carousel roof white.
- 6Optional: add a darker shade of blue along one side of the car and a little darker red under the cap to give the drawing more depth.
