Park Bench Treat for Cuphead and His Puppy

On a slatted park bench sits Cuphead, holding a tall ice cream cone with three scoops and a cherry on top. His teacup head is tilted with a big open-mouthed grin, and he wears a simple T-shirt, shorts, big round shoes and gloves. Next to him a happy puppy with floppy ears and a collar sticks out its tongue, looking up as if hoping for a lick. A leafy tree, a tall old-fashioned street lamp and a few bushes stand behind them, with little grass tufts near the bench legs. Bold, open shapes make this a nice choice for younger kids still learning to stay inside the lines. Pink, vanilla and chocolate scoops with a warm golden brown puppy would look tasty. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big leafy tree and the grassy background in leaf green, leaving the small bush on the far left white.
- 2Color the boy's head, neck, arms and hands in cream, then fill the top band of his head in chocolate brown.
- 3Fill his shirt in sky blue and his shorts in royal blue, keeping the cuphead ear inner highlight white.
- 4Color the puppy's body, head and tail in burnt orange, add caramel on its back and apricot on its cheek, then make its collar brick red and tag golden yellow.
- 5Paint the bench seats and backrests in warm brown and the bench legs and lamp post in slate gray.
- 6Finish with the details: brick red shoes and cherry, the ice cream cone in burnt orange, scoops in cream and light pink, bubblegum pink tongue, coral red open mouth, and pale yellow lamp glass. Keep the eye whites and shoe highlights white. Optional: add a little darker shading on the shoes and bench edges.
