Round-Eyed Owl Sitting on a Leafy Branch

Coloring guide
Here is a plump, wide-eyed owl on a thick branch, claws curled over the edge, staring right at you. The big circular eyes have shiny highlights, and there is a small triangle beak and two pointed feather tufts on top of the head. Rows of scalloped feather lines cover the belly, and the wings rest down at the sides. Two leaves sprout from the branch end at the lower left, and one more hangs at the lower right. Outlines are bold and clean and the shapes are large, so preschoolers and early elementary kids should have an easy time with it. It prints nicely as a free page too. Golden yellow looks great on the beak and eyes, with warm browns and tans for the body and fresh greens on the leaves. If you enjoyed this Owl page, don't miss our Puppies and Cats coloring pages.

- cream beige
- warm brown
- leaf green
- golden yellow
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the owl's round face and belly with cream beige, leaving the two big eye whites untouched.
- 2Color the ear tufts, both wings and the branch warm brown, pressing lightly to keep the feather lines clear.
- 3Fill the beak and both feet with golden yellow.
- 4Color the three leaves leaf green, including the leaf on the far right of the branch.
- 5Fill the round pupils with a dark color and leave a small white shine spot in each one.
- 6Optional: add a few lighter or darker strokes of warm brown on the wings and branch to give them a little depth.
