This wide-eyed baby owl wraps both wings around a big ribbed pumpkin, with its beak open in a happy little smile. The pumpkin's curly stem reaches up toward the owl's chin. Fluffy feather tufts sit on the head and ears, and round eyes with shiny highlights give the owl a sweet, curious look. Two small feet peek out from under the pumpkin at the bottom, and three maple-style leaves are scattered on the ground around them. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the owl's head feathers, wings and cheek edges with chestnut brown, leaving the big round eye areas and the cream face patch for later.
- 2Fill the large pumpkin with bright orange, then use deep orange on the top left edge and the stem base, and coral red on the right edge for a little shading contrast.
- 3Color the owl's lower body and belly with light tan and cream, and add burnt orange along the left side of the body.
- 4Add the stem in leaf green and fill the beak, both feet, and the small leaves with sunny yellow, and use amber gold for the right leaf.
- 5Leave the eye whites white and fill the pupils dark so the eyes pop.
- 6Optional: Add a few soft strokes of darker brown on the wings and bright orange shading on the pumpkin ribs to give them some texture.
