A smiling little sprout with a curly vine on top and two leafy ears tips a watering can to sprinkle drops over a row of flowers. This round, bulb-shaped character has big sparkly eyes, rosy cheeks and leaf-shaped hands gripping the can. Three tulips stand in front with two daisy-style flowers between them, and a picket fence with bushes peeking over the top runs behind. In the upper corner, a happy sun with a smiling face and short rays shines down. Large open shapes make it a good free print for preschoolers and early elementary kids still building pencil control. Soft green for the sprout and its leaves, bright pink and red tulips and a sunny yellow sun work well, and blue crayons suit the falling water drops. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Fill the sprout's big round head and its little leg with light green, then color both leaves and the sprout's curly top area with leaf green.
- 2Paint the watering can in sky blue, including its handle and spout, and add the small sprinkler head in steel blue.
- 3Color the sun's face and the flower centers golden yellow, then paint the left tulip tomato red, the middle tulip hot pink, and the right tulip orchid purple.
- 4Fill the fence posts and rails with amber, the bush on the right with leaf green, and the grass and tulip stems with bright lime green, then add forest green to the tulip leaves.
- 5Add rose pink cheeks and a happy smile, and leave the eye whites, daisy petals and water drops white.
- 6Optional: Add a little caramel brown or tan shading along the watering can and the sprout's chest to make them look rounder.
