Crowd of 101 Dalmatians Puppies Around a Big Shaggy Dog
Coloring guide
In the middle sits a big shaggy dog with one small puppy perched on his head, and spotted Dalmatian puppies crowd in on every side. Some sit, some lie down, and all of them look up at him with curious faces. A few wear collars. A long draped curtain hangs behind them, with a decorative curled finial on the rod at the upper left. Kids who like a busy picture will enjoy this one, since all those spotted coats mean lots of small areas to fill in. The pups' large floppy ears and the big dog's fluffy coat give bigger spaces for little hands. Golden tan or soft gray works well for the shaggy dog, so he stands apart from the black-spotted puppies, and the Dalmatians can stay mostly white. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the light gray curtain folds at the top and the light gray panels on the left, leaving the big white dog and all the puppies white for now.
- 2Color the curtain rods and tie with tan, and add the dark brown post at the top left.
- 3Fill the blue fabric behind the small puppy at the top and the sky blue patch near the top ears with sky blue.
- 4Use slate gray for the shadowed folds near the top left and the soft shadow under the big dog's ears, and pale yellow for the fabric patches near the top.
- 5Add black to the dark ear patches on the small top puppy and the puppy at the top, then fill the inner ear of the puppy at the left with baby pink.
- 6Leave the eye whites, shiny highlights and the white fur of the puppies and the big shaggy dog untouched. Optional: add a little beige shadow on the dogs' sides to give them a bit of depth.
