Elephant Calf with Trunk Up Making a Big Splash: Animals to Color
Coloring guide
Standing on all four feet, this smiling baby elephant curls its trunk high overhead and sprays a fountain that bursts into big petal-shaped splashes at the top. It has large round eyes looking up, an open happy mouth, floppy oversized ears, and a tiny tufted tail. Teardrop-shaped water drops are scattered across the page, and small tufts of grass sit in the bottom corners. Shapes are big and simple with clean, bold outlines, which suits preschoolers and early elementary kids still working on pencil control. Sky blue and turquoise are great for the water, and warm gray or a playful lavender for the elephant, with green grass below. It's a natural companion to our Animals coloring pages, plus Puppies and Cats if you want more.
A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- light gray
- sky blue
- baby pink
- pale cream
- coral red
- charcoal gray
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the splash drops and water drops: fill all the sky blue shapes around the trunk, leaving the thin spray lines white.
- 2Fill the elephant's head, big ear and body with light gray, keeping the eye whites bright white.
- 3Color the back ear and the inner part behind the trunk with baby pink.
- 4Add the open mouth in coral red and the toenails on all four feet in pale cream.
- 5Use charcoal gray for the tail tip at the back of the calf.
- 6Optional: Add a few light strokes of charcoal gray or sky blue in the shadows under the ear for a soft shaded look.
