Mom, dad, a little girl, and a little boy are gathered around a table full of paper crafts, all smiling as they make heart-decorated cards. The girl has a ponytail and the boy wears a hoodie, and each colors a card with a crayon. Dad snips a paper heart with scissors while mom draws on a card with her crayon. There's plenty to color on the tabletop: a glue bottle, extra scissors, scattered paper hearts and stars, a cup of crayons, stacked paper, and a folded heart card. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big background areas: fill the window sky and the sky behind the house with pale sky blue, and color the walls in pale cream, leaving the cloud white.
- 2Color the mom's sweater and the dad's shirt next: use rose pink for the mom's sweater, denim blue for the dad's shirt, and lavender purple for the girl's top, keeping the dad's undershirt white.
- 3Add the faces, hands, and necks in warm peach, then fill the trees and bushes in leaf green and light green, and the boy's hoodie in leaf green.
- 4Color the hair next: medium brown for the mom and girl, dark brown for the dad, and golden yellow for the boy, plus tan for the girl's highlights.
- 5Fill the paper and craft pieces: bright red for the big red paper stack and hearts, light pink for the card covers, lemon yellow and soft yellow for the paper scraps, and bright blue for the pencil cup.
- 6Optional tip: leave the eye whites, the glue bottle, and the small highlights white for a bright, clean finish.
