A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.

1. 1Start with the overalls: color the bib, pants and cuffs sky blue, leaving the gaps between the legs white.
2. 2Color the hat golden yellow and its band red, then add the boy's red sleeves and the red cuff at his wrist.
3. 3Fill the boy's face, neck, hands and ears with peach, and color his hair and the tail medium brown. Give the boots medium brown with dark brown soles.
4. 4For the calf, keep the body white and add dark brown spots, then color the horns pale yellow, the nose and inner ear blush pink, and the hooves dark gray. Leave the eye whites and shine spots white.
5. 5Color the fence caramel, leaving the background white. Optional: add a little darker shade under the hat brim and along the calf's belly for depth.
