This cheerful pony wears a firefighter helmet marked FD and leans over a wooden crate, holding a handsaw in one hoof. A paisley-print scarf is wrapped around her neck, and a small fire hose and ladder symbol is drawn on her hip. Her long wavy mane and swirly tail give kids lots of lines to color. In front of her, a second crate shows a smiling pony face with a curly forelock inside a round border. Both crates have star shapes on the sides and stand on rounded legs. It's a good free page for kids who like building-and-rescue pretend play. Red for the helmet and bright yellow for the stars would look good, and two or three bold colors can fill the paisley scarf. Big, clear shapes make it a good fit for preschoolers and early elementary kids with crayons or markers. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by filling the big peach areas: the pony's body, face, neck and front leg with peach.
- 2Color the mane and tail with caramel brown, then add chocolate brown to the darker strands for depth.
- 3Paint the firefighter hat, the bandana and the red panels on both boxes with fire red.
- 4Fill the blue panels on the boxes with sky blue, and the saw blade and small pony's mane with pale cream and sunny yellow.
- 5Add sunny yellow to the round feet and the stars on the boxes, and use light gold for the small curls on the little pony.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of chocolate brown along the mane and a touch of charcoal gray on the hoof for extra depth.
