In this desert scene, a sleek, low-slung race car swings around a corner at speed, shown from a front three-quarter view. It has a big rear wing, a curved glass canopy, and swirling flames across the hood. A few short slanted lines behind it show how fast it's going. Along the roadside you'll find tufts of grass, some rounded rocks and pebbles in the bottom corner, and tall saguaro-style cacti, plus a round spiky cactus on the right. Jagged mesas rise behind it under a simple cloud outline. Start with the hood flames in orange, red and yellow against a deep blue or black body. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the sky and clouds: fill the top area in light gray and the top right corner in sky blue, leaving the white cloud edges and streaks untouched.
- 2Paint the desert floor and bottom ground in sandy beige, then color the rocks in warm taupe, leaving small white highlights on the rocks.
- 3Fill the canyon walls and mesa in tangerine orange and burnt orange, and color all the cacti in cactus green, keeping the white outlines around them.
- 4Color the car body in fire red, the windows in bright blue with white glare streaks, and the spoiler in tan brown.
- 5Add the flames on the nose and sides in golden yellow and bright yellow, and fill the wheels in charcoal gray, leaving the grille highlight white.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of fire red along the lower body edges and light gray along the wheels for depth.
