Racing Past Cacti: Hot Wheels Flame Car in the Desert
Coloring guide
A sleek, low-slung race car with a big rear spoiler tears down a dusty desert trail. Swirling flames decorate the hood and front fender, and you'll see a tinted curved windshield, side vents, and chunky wheels with detailed spokes. Speed lines streak across the background. Tall saguaro cacti and round prickly pear plants line the roadside, while jagged rocky mesas and a few puffy clouds sit far off. Tufts of grass and a pile of rounded rocks fill the foreground. Shade the flames in orange, red and yellow, and they'll really pop against a bright blue body. Kids who love cars should have fun with this one, and the PDF is free to download. - 2Fill the desert background with wheat gold, the cliffs and hills with rust orange, and the sandy areas near the cacti with pale yellow.
- 3Color all the cacti with cactus green, then fill the rocks at the bottom with sand beige and warm brown.
- 4Paint the car body in fire red, adding amber orange and tangerine orange flames on the hood and front, with the headlights in lemon yellow.
- 5Color the tires and lower details in charcoal black, the wheel rims and spoiler in silver gray, and the grille highlight stays white.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of dark gray under the car and along the rock edges to give the scene a little depth.
