Forest Oak Tree With Acorns and Wavy Leaves

One sturdy oak takes up the whole page. Its wide trunk splits into branches that hold big, scalloped clusters of foliage, and inside those clusters you'll find large oak leaves with wavy edges and clear center veins. A small oval knot hole sits in the middle of the trunk, and curved bark lines run down to roots spreading out at the base. Grass tufts surround the bottom, with three acorns in textured caps lying out front. Thick outlines and roomy shapes keep it easy for younger kids, and the veins and bark give older kids more to work on. Rich browns suit the trunk and acorns, and you can mix greens with a few golden yellows across the leaves. Print it for a quick coloring break anytime. Looking for more? A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big canopy shapes: color the rounded foliage clumps around the tree in forest green, leaving the trunk and background white.
- 2Fill the oak leaves, from the top center leaf down to the lower left and right leaves, in leaf green.
- 3Color the three acorns and their caps in burnt orange, keeping the small highlights on the acorns white.
- 4Add light tan to the wood knot in the middle of the trunk, leaving a small white shine on its right side.
- 5Optional: Add a few darker strokes of forest green along the edges of the canopy for a bit of depth.
- 6Leave the trunk, roots, grass and background white, as in the example.
