A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big brown areas: fill the head, cheeks, jaw, and both ears with warm brown, leaving the eye whites and mouth slots white.
- 2Color the large snout lobes and the middle of the muzzle with light orange, keeping the small highlight spots on the snout white.
- 3Fill the top hat and eyebrows with charcoal gray, then add the three bright red hat bands around the base of the hat.
- 4Use black for the eye rings, the nose area, and the mouth strap with its buckles, keeping the small squares in the strap white.
- 5Optional: Add light pencil shading in slightly darker brown along the edges of the head and ears for a bit of depth.
- 6Finish by checking that the eye whites and the small shine spots are still white so the face looks lively.
