Out in a sweet outdoor scene, a big cheerful robot kneels down to give a laughing little boy a warm hug. The robot has a square screen-style face with a wide smile, round ear pieces, a small hat-like dome on top and a medical cross badge on its chest. The boy wears a ride-on helmet, a short-sleeved shirt, shorts and sneakers, and his eyes are squeezed shut with joy. Behind them you'll see a smiling sun with rays, three puffy clouds, rounded bushes, a grassy hill and little tufts of grass. Large shapes keep it easy for younger kids, and the helmet straps and robot panels give older children some detail to work on. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the sky and sun: color the clouds and the sun's center in pale blue, leaving the sun's rays and cloud outlines as they are.
- 2Fill the grass and the bushes on both sides with grass green, and leave the ground area below the grass white.
- 3Color the robot's large body parts in bright blue, including its head, arms, legs, and the back of the knees, then add the golden yellow knee pads, shoulder, and feet.
- 4Paint the robot's face screen in pale blue, the mouth in coral red, and the eyes white with black pupils, then color the bright red hat and ear covers.
- 5Color the boy's helmet bright red and his shirt golden yellow, his shorts and sneakers in deep and bright blue, and his skin in peach, leaving his socks white.
- 6Finish with the red cross badge in bright red and its center white, then add the boy's salmon pink open mouth. Optional: add a little darker shading on the robot's blue arms for depth.
