Leaning forward with a crane arm on its shoulder, a big smiling robot hauls a small car out of a muddy puddle using a thick rope with a hook. The car's front wheels are still stuck in the mud, while the robot's wheeled feet are planted firmly on the grass. On the other side of a wooden fence, a farmer in a wide-brimmed hat and overalls watches with a grin, and a friendly cow peeks over the rail next to him. A big barn with a silo, bushes and rolling hills fill the background, and little grass tufts are scattered across the field. This free printable has lots of large, simple shapes, so younger kids should do well with it. A yellow or blue robot, a classic red barn and a rich brown puddle make a fun contrast. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big background: fill the grass with lime green and leaf green, the hills with light green, and the trees and bushes with forest green.
- 2Color the robot's helmet, head, chest and belly golden yellow, and the arms and wheels bright blue; use light gray and medium gray for the shoulder pieces and joints.
- 3Paint the barn and the car in bright red, with the barn roof in slate gray, the car windows in pale sky blue, and the car seat in soft beige.
- 4Fill the mud puddles and splashes with chocolate brown, and color the rope amber orange; leave the car headlight and the white patch on the cow white.
- 5Finish the details: fence rails and posts in golden tan, the farmer's overalls in pale sky blue, the robot's lower legs and feet in bright red and bright blue, and the crane arms in golden yellow. Optional: add a little darker shading along the edges of the robot for depth.
