Here's a gnome facing forward with one hand raised in a wave, so he'd be a fun fit for a hello-themed craft or a sign on a bedroom door. His tall pointed hat flops over at the tip, and he has a big round nose, an open smile, a curled mustache and a full beard that reaches down to his belt. The tunic has cuffed sleeves and a wide belt with a square buckle, and his boots are chunky. A small tuft of grass sits on each side of his feet. The background is empty, which leaves lots of room for little hands. Bold outlines and big shapes work well for preschoolers and early elementary kids. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by coloring the pointed hat and its brim with bright red, leaving the small curved streaks on the hat as plain lines.
- 2Fill the face, both ears, the raised hand and the hand resting at his side with pale beige.
- 3Color the coat, the sleeves and the raised arm forest green, then add bright red cuffs at the raised wrist and the left sleeve.
- 4Color the belt and both boots chocolate brown, the pants sky blue, and the buckle golden yellow with its center in brown.
- 5Color the round nose rosy pink and the open mouth coral red, and leave the long beard and both mustache curls white.
- 6Optional: add a few light strokes of a darker shade on the hat and coat to give them a little depth.
