Zuma, the Labrador pup from PAW Patrol, is caught mid-leap with a flying disc in his mouth and a big smile. He has on his helmet with the paw badge, his life vest with the anchor tag on the chest, and his small backpack. His front paws are tucked up, his back legs stretch out below, and his tail and floppy ear swing with the motion. Behind him, a few gentle lines of water lie past sandy dunes dotted with pebbles, and tall grass stalks frame both sides. Bold shapes and clean lines make it a good match for preschoolers and early elementary kids with crayons or markers. Bright orange for the vest and helmet and a rainbow frisbee would be fun. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the dog's head, neck, front paw, right paw, and muzzle in light tan, leaving the eye highlights and the white shine on the head white.
- 2Color the ears, tail, body, and lower legs in caramel brown, keeping the shapes smooth and even.
- 3Fill the helmet, life vest, and vest straps in golden yellow, then add the dark gray collar and the gray harness strap.
- 4Paint the frisbee rim and underside in bright blue and sky blue, leaving the top of the frisbee in golden yellow.
- 5Add the water in sky blue and the sand in sandy gold, and color the two small pebbles in slate gray; leave the grass white.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker caramel brown or dark gray in the shadowed areas under the paws and collar for depth.
