Four round frames sit on the pond and follow a frog from beginning to end, joined by arrows that run in a circle. Frog eggs clustered among water plants fill the top left frame. After that comes a long-tailed tadpole, then a bigger tadpole with little back legs, and finally a grown frog on a lily pad. The pond around them is busy with rippling water, lily pads and blooming water lilies. Cattails and tall grasses frame the edges, one dragonfly hovers at the top, another rests near rocks at the bottom, and a small snail sits in the corner. It's a free printable that works for a classroom nature lesson or a calm afternoon at home. Soft greens suit the frog and lily pads, and bright pink suits the water lily petals. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the water. Color the pond areas and the circles behind the scenes in sky blue, leaving the lily pads and the wavy lines white.
- 2Color the frog eggs in the top left circle with pale blue, then add a few sky blue shadows between them.
- 3Paint the frog in soft yellow, then add lime green spots on its back and legs. Keep the eyes white.
- 4Color the tadpoles in olive brown, and fill the arrows with golden yellow.
- 5Fill the lily pads and leaves with leaf green and grass green, add rose pink to the lily flowers, and color the cattails brown.
- 6Finish with light gray rocks, sage green bushes and mint green plants. Optional: Add a little extra darker blue at the edges of the water circles for depth.
