In this garden scene, a smiling young witch in a big buckled pointed hat tips a flower-decorated watering can, and little droplets fall from the spout. She has long wavy hair, a wide-eyed happy face, and a collared dress with a small bow at the neck. Three large daisy-style flowers with dotted centers grow in front of her, and leafy plants, grass tufts and spotted mushrooms fill the corners. A wooden picket fence stands behind her with rounded bushes peeking over it, and curly vines twist up the sides. At the upper right, a happy butterfly flutters along a dashed line. Younger kids will like the big open shapes, and older kids can enjoy the petals and mushroom spots. A deep purple hat with soft pink and yellow petals gives it a springtime feel. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the watering can in sky blue and the witch's dress and pointed hat in violet purple, leaving the white flower and the small highlights untouched.
- 2Fill the face, hands and neck with peach skin, keeping the eye whites and little shine spots white.
- 3Color the long hair and the top fringe in chestnut brown, then add the hat band and buckle in bubblegum pink.
- 4Paint the big daisies in bubblegum pink and fill their centers with golden yellow, leaving the small white daisy in the middle foreground white with its dotted center.
- 5Color the mushroom caps in tomato red with white dots, the stems and fence posts in honey tan, and the leaves, stems and grass in leaf green.
- 6Color the butterfly's wings and body in orchid pink, leave the sky and background white, and finish with optional gentle shading on the dress and hat with a slightly darker shade of the same color.
