Kids who enjoy silly costume scenes will like this one. Garfield is a pirate in a floppy hat with a skull and crossbones, a wide-banded shirt, ragged shorts and a swirly peg leg. He rests one paw by his cheek with a smug look and holds out a huge layered sandwich with a bite gone from the top. Lettuce, tomato and other fillings spill out of the bread, which gives small crayons plenty to do. His striped tail curls out behind him over a simple ground shadow, and there's no other background. Red works well for the hat, wood brown for the peg leg, and green and red for the sandwich fillings. It's a free printable for a screen-free activity at home. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the cat's body, feet, tail and head with golden yellow, leaving the skull, crossbones and eye patch white.
- 2Fill the shirt, the dog's ear and the hat band with cherry red.
- 3Color the shorts and the left pant leg with deep blue.
- 4Shade the big hat and its feathers with charcoal gray, then add cherry red to the hat's side band and fringe.
- 5Color the wooden peg leg and belt with light brown and chocolate brown, and make the belt buckle silver gray.
- 6Optional: Add coral orange to the cheeks and salmon pink to the nose for a little extra warmth.
