Giant Halloween Pumpkin Cottage with Flower Garden

Someone has turned a giant pumpkin into a cozy little cottage, and there's a lot going on. A curly stem sits on top, leafy vines climb the sides, and a tall stone chimney sends up a swirl of smoke. The round wooden door has a small round window, with a lantern hanging on each side. Three arched windows with flower boxes are set into the pumpkin walls. A winding stepping-stone path runs through a garden full of daisy-style flowers, grass tufts and spotted mushrooms in the corners. Behind the house are a wooden fence, a leafy tree, a pine tree, fluffy clouds, rolling hills and a faraway castle. Big pumpkin sections sit next to tiny petals, so it's a good fit for kids who enjoy detail. Orange and warm yellow suit the pumpkin, and bright pinks and purples bring the flowers to life. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big pumpkin house: color the round pumpkin body in pumpkin orange, leaving the windows, door and flower boxes white.
- 2Fill the chimney and the path stones with stone gray, then color the wooden door and its round window area in chocolate brown.
- 3Color the leafy vines and tree foliage around the house in bright green, and the bushes and grass in moss green.
- 4Add the pine trees in forest green, the hill in light green, and the mountains and distant castle in slate blue or sky blue.
- 5Paint the mushroom caps in bright red and the flower in coral pink, then add golden yellow to the center of the daisy at the bottom left.
- 6Optional: Add a little tan brown under the path stones to suggest dirt, and leave the sky and clouds white.
