Cupcake Picnic with a Baby Dragon, Elena of Avalor
Coloring guide
On a checkered picnic blanket, a long-haired girl and a small baby dragon sit side by side, each holding a frosted cupcake. She has a flower in her hair and a ruffled sundress with ribbon-tied straps, and she smiles at her scaly friend. The dragon has big round ears, little wings, a curled tail and a happy open-mouthed grin. Next to them are a flowered teapot, two teacups, a plate with three more cupcakes, and a wicker basket holding a blossom bouquet and a folded cloth. Branches with leaves hang overhead, and grass tufts and bushes fill the background. This free printable has lots of small details for steady crayon work. Soft mint green could go on the dragon's wings and belly, with pink or lilac swirls of frosting on the cupcakes. The checkered blanket is also good practice for alternating colors. This fits right in with our Elena of Avalor coloring pages — see also Frozen and Beauty and the Beast.

A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big leafy tree and background: color the tree leaves and bush in lime green, and the tree trunk in chocolate brown.
- 2Fill the dragon's body, head, ears and tail with grass green, and color the dragon's wings and belly in pale yellow, leaving the eye shines white.
- 3Color the girl's face and arms in peach skin, her dress bodice in lavender purple, and her long hair and ribbons in golden yellow.
- 4Paint the picnic blanket in light pink and coral pink checks, then color the teapot, teacups and basket cloth in golden yellow and blush pink.
- 5Leave the cupcake frosting and the serving plate white, and color the cupcake liners in coral pink.
- 6Optional: Add a little shading on the hair and blanket with a slightly darker shade of the same color for extra depth.
