A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.

1. 1Start with the girl's skin: color her face, neck, arm and hand in peach skin, leaving the eye whites and the small shine spots white.
2. 2Fill the hen bodies and the chicks' fluffy shapes: use caramel brown for the big hens and lemon yellow for the two little chicks.
3. 3Color the girl's hair and braids in dark brown, then add the straw hat with straw gold on the brim and crown and a barn red band.
4. 4Paint the denim overalls and boots: use denim blue for the overalls and barn red for the rain boots, and add the yellow shirt in lemon yellow.
5. 5Color the wooden fence posts and rails in warm tan, then fill the metal bucket in light gray and add grass green to the hen feet and small tufts of grass.
6. 6Optional: Add a little extra dark brown shading under the hats and along the hen wings for depth, and keep the seed dots and the bucket shine white.
