Girl Planting a Seedling in the Garden
Coloring guide
Here a smiling girl in a wide-brimmed sun hat kneels on the ground and gently pats soil around a small leafy seedling she just planted. Her shoulder-length hair peeks out from under the hat, and she wears a short-sleeved shirt with overalls that have a front pocket. Nearby, a hand trowel lies in the dirt at the lower left and a round bucket with a handle sits on the right. You'll also spot tufts of grass, daisy-style flowers in both bottom corners and bushy hedges behind her. The big shapes on the hat, overalls and bucket are easy for little hands, and the flowers and leaves give older kids more to do. Green for the seedling and hedges, soft yellow for the hat and brown for the soil would all look right. Print or download it free for a calm creative break. Looking for more? A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big hat: color the crown and brim golden yellow, and add a band of tomato red around the hat.
- 2Fill the face and neck with peach skin, then color the hair with caramel brown, leaving the eye whites untouched.
- 3Color the shirt soft pink and the overalls sky blue, keeping the pocket and straps in the same blue.
- 4Paint the bucket sky blue with a lemon yellow handle and rim, and color the trowel with light gray and orange.
- 5Color the seedling and grass in leaf green and light green, and fill the soil with dark brown.
- 6Finish the small flowers: keep the petals white, give the centers lemon yellow, and add soft pink and light green to the stems and leaves. Optional: add a little darker shading under the hat brim and hair for depth.
