Tipping her watering can over the vegetable patch, a smiling girl in a wide-brimmed sun hat, overalls and tall rubber boots lets drops fall from the spout onto a tall tomato plant covered in round tomatoes. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the big background areas: color the grass and bushes in leaf green, add lime green to the lighter grass patches, and fill the distant hedge with forest green.
- 2Color the soil beds and ground in chocolate brown, and the wooden fence rails and posts in caramel brown and golden brown.
- 3Dress the farmer: fill the overalls with sky blue, the face, neck, arms and hands with skin peach, the hair with auburn brown, and the hat and boots with golden yellow, adding a tomato red band on the hat.
- 4Color the watering can in steel gray, then fill the tomatoes in tomato red and the tomato plant leaves in forest green and lime green.
- 5Color the cabbages in leaf green and the carrots in carrot orange, leaving the sun outline and any tiny highlights white.
- 6Optional: add a few darker strokes of forest green or chocolate brown on the shaded sides of the cabbages and soil to add depth.
