Neither fish looks very happy in this Finding Nemo picture. Dory, the blue tang, floats at the upper left with droopy eyelids and a downturned mouth. Marlin, the striped clownfish, sits lower down with his big fins spread wide and his eyes turned upward, like he's working something out in his head. Wavy sandy lines curve across the top and bottom of the page. In the upper right corner, three tube-shaped corals with ridged openings stand together, and a couple of tiny pebbles sit near the seabed. Shapes are big and outlines are bold, which works well for younger kids with chunky crayons. Orange suits Marlin nicely if you keep his white stripes clean, and a deep blue is a good match for Dory. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the yellow fish: fill the head, the middle body stripes and the belly with lemon yellow, leaving the eye white.
- 2Color the blue stripes and the large fins of the yellow fish with royal blue, including the top back fin and the bottom fins.
- 3Fill the orange fish with tangerine orange, covering the head, cheek, tail and forehead, and keep the big eye whites clean.
- 4Use mint green for the fins on the right side, and add forest green to the darker triangle shapes at their tips.
- 5Add a charcoal gray patch on the orange fish's head and a coral red mouth area on the lower jaw.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker shading at the edges of the fins and under the stripes to make the colors pop.
