Mama Dog and Four Puppies on a Rug
Coloring guide
On a fluffy round rug lies a smiling mother dog with floppy ears and her tongue out, with four little puppies around her. Two are curled up asleep on either side of her, one resting its head on its paws. Up front, a third puppy looks up with an open-mouthed grin, and a fourth rolls on its back with paws in the air, showing the paw pads. On the left behind them is a leafy plant in a pot, and on the right a striped ball sits near a simple floor line. With sleepy and playful poses together, it's a nice choice for a calm afternoon. Golden yellow and soft orange work for the fur, and a bright blue ball will stand out. Print this free page for classroom time or a rainy day. Love this Dogs coloring page? A gentle color plan to get started — mix in your own anytime.
- golden tan
- pale blue
- terracotta orange
- leaf green
- bright blue
- lemon yellow
- coral pink
A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start by filling the big golden tan areas: the mama dog's head, back and body, and all four puppies, leaving the small white eye shines and the white patches on the puppies' faces alone.
- 2Color the plant leaves in leaf green and the flower pot in terracotta orange, including the rim.
- 3Fill the rug and the grassy area with pale blue, keeping the white fluffy edges and the white background uncolored.
- 4Add the ball with bright blue and lemon yellow stripes, leaving a small white highlight on it if you like.
- 5Color the mama dog's tongue with coral pink, then add small touches of coral pink inside the puppies' mouths.
- 6Optional: Add a little darker golden tan along the bottom of the puppies and the mama dog to make them look fluffy.
