Index Finger Pointing Up, ASL Number One

Index Finger Pointing Up, ASL Number One coloring page

Coloring guide

A single hand is drawn from the front with the index finger pointing straight up while the other fingers are curled down into the palm. The thumb folds across the front of the curled fingers, and you can see small nail lines on the raised finger and the tucked fingertips. The wrist at the bottom has a few simple lines showing where the hand meets the arm. Thick, clean outlines and large open areas make it easy for small hands to color. This pose shows the number one in American Sign Language, so it works well for early counting lessons. Try coloring the hand in a skin tone you like, then have kids copy the pose with their own hand and say the number out loud. It is a free printable that fits nicely into a classroom signing unit or a quiet activity at home.
