Painter Chameleon with Brush, Palette and Easel

Coloring guide
This cheerful chameleon stands upright on two legs with a long paintbrush in one hand and a round palette with paint wells in the other. The brush is touching a canvas on a wooden easel, where two big paint splatters with little drips are already drawn. It has huge round eyes, an open smiling mouth, spots on its cheeks and tail, a ridged crest along the head and back, and a tightly curled striped tail. Grass tufts, small bushes and pebbles dot the ground around its feet. Younger kids will like the large open shapes, and older kids can work on the spots and tail stripes. Rainbow colors for the two splatters would be fun, with a soft green chameleon. Print this sheet at home for a quick coloring break anytime. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Start with the chameleon's body, head, raised arm, and legs in leaf green, leaving the big round eyes white with black pupils.
- 2Color the back spine, the long curly tail, and the side of the body in leaf green, then fill the tail's stripes and bands with bright yellow and lime green.
- 3Fill the belly and lower tail area with soft yellow, and paint the open mouth in coral pink.
- 4Add the spots and frills: orange and light orange on the back, cheeks, and head, golden yellow on the frills, and lemon yellow on the back spots.
- 5Paint the palette tan brown and add colorful dabs of red, orange, purple, and deep blue; color the brush handle brown, its metal part light gray, and the easel wood tan brown.
- 6Finish the canvas splashes in orange, light orange, peach, and sky blue, then color the pebbles cool gray and leave the background white. Optional: add a little darker shading along the belly edges for depth.
