In a grassy meadow, a cheerful little pony with big sparkly eyes and an open-mouthed smile looks up toward a rainbow. The rainbow arches behind her head with a puffy cloud at each end. She has a long flowing mane, a swooping striped tail, and chunky hooves with bands at the ankles. Four daisy-style flowers and small tufts of grass fill the corners. Wide outlines and open shapes suit preschoolers and early elementary kids, while the rainbow bands give older children room for finer detail. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the rainbow arcs from the outside in: coral red on the top arc, golden yellow next, then lime green, then sky blue on the inner arc.
- 2Fill both fluffy clouds at the ends of the rainbow with pale blue, leaving the thick outlines untouched.
- 3Color the pony's whole body, neck and ear with lavender, and paint the hooves violet purple.
- 4Work on the mane and tail: golden yellow for the main strands, violet purple and lilac for the stripes, tan orange near the tail, coral pink at the tail top and dusty rose on the forelock. Leave the small white gaps where the mane meets the body white.
- 5Paint the flowers: coral pink petals with golden yellow centers, light blue petals on the top flowers, and grass green leaves. Keep the thin stems and the gap between the legs white.
- 6Optional: Add a light blue eye iris and keep the eye whites and small highlights white. Use a few light strokes of a darker shade on the body for depth.
