Ice Skating Snowman on a Frozen Pond

Gliding over the ice on one skate, this snowman has his other leg kicked up behind him and both stick arms stretched wide to keep his balance. He has a ribbed beanie with a big pom-pom, a carrot nose and a long fringed scarf that flutters out behind. Three round buttons run down his tummy. Along the edge of the pond you will see snow-topped bushes and bare-branched shrubs, and curved lines on the ice show where other skaters have swooped by. The large, open shapes make this free printable a nice fit for preschoolers and early elementary kids with chunky crayons. A suggested order, zone by zone — skip around as you like.
- 1Color the knitted hat in cherry red, leaving its stripes as you like, and fill the pompom on top with golden yellow.
- 2Use cherry red for the left arm and mitten, and warm brown for the right arm and mitten, then add grass green and cherry red stripes to the scarf.
- 3Fill the skates and their boot cuffs with royal blue and sky blue, and color the blades light gray and medium gray.
- 4Color the carrot nose orange and the smile coral pink, then add charcoal black to the three buttons down the front while the snowman's body and face stay white.
- 5Fill the tree with grass green and the snow banks and ice rink with pale blue, leaving the snow tops and background white.
- 6Optional: Add a little lime green shading to one side of the scarf stripes to make them look rounded.
